President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said today that he is “more alive and strong than ever”. Lula spoke at the PT 45th birthday party in Rio de Janeiro.
“I mean to those who think they can destroy the PT and the integrity of a man, that I am more alive and strong than ever. And anyone who wants to defeat us will have to go to the place where we know the most to fight, which is on the streets, talking to men and women, because we didn’t come temporarily. We came to change the history of Brazil, ”he said.
Lula again told the step by step of the accident in which he hit his head in the bathroom and said that the following days were the most delicate of his life, with doctors saying that he could have entered a coma and died.
“They even said that I could die because of it and, thank God, yesterday I went to take an exam and Lulinha is 100% healed from the head, with a new, clean head. Yesterday I did all the exams that a human being has the right to do, ”Lula told the audience for about 3,000 PT militants.
Lula quoted the persecution of Getúlio Vargas and João Goulart and repeated what he said when he arrested: that he would not exchange dignity for freedom. According to him, the country’s elite “does not support” the PT because the party was responsible for more than $ 300 billion in investments for social policies and inclusion.
“If it weren’t for our social inclusion policies and they (elite) were ruling that country, that money would go into their hands. I want to say, loud and sound, that we will take care of the poorest, the hardworking people, the entrepreneurs, the little ones, those who need the state. That’s what the PT came for, what was born, ”said Lula.
