Pope Francis is still hospitalized and had a quiet and resting night, according to the Vatican statement on Sunday morning (23).
For the first time since hospitalization, the Vatican described the Pope’s state of health as a “critical” last Saturday (22). It needed supplementary oxygen and blood transfusions because of a prolonged respiratory crisis similar to asthma. The exams also pointed out a plateletboard.
The pontiff has been diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and has been under medical care since February 14 at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.
