Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES) presented the text after the installation of the CCJ, with the definition of Otto Alencar (PSD-BA) in the presidency
The Senator (PT-ES) presented on Wednesday (19.FEV.2025) the new report of the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) of Nursing (PEC), authored by (PSD-MA). The text is ready to be analyzed at the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), which resumed activities on the same day, with that of its new presidency. She stayed with (PSD-BA).
The new report establishes working hours of 30 hours per week for nurses, technicians and nursing and midwives assistants, as well as annual adjustment for categories according to inflation. “The struggle for worker’s right is continuous and permanent”said Contarato.
In 2024, it was agreed that PEC would be jointly with another proposal, the PEC, authored by (PDT-MA), which indexes the category salary floor to the minimum wage.
In the analysis of the merit, Contarato rejected this proposal, on the grounds that it has a matter already contemplated in the constitutional amendment, which established the wage floor of the nursing.
“We emphasized that the issue was recently debated and broadly in legislative houses, so that the reopening of the discussion at this time would compromise legal certainty and impair the application of the norm itself.”said the senator.
According to Contarato, the approval of PEC 19 of 2024 will guarantee “Working conditions more worthy and compatible with the reality of these categories”. This, for him, will contribute to reduce the risk of occupational diseases and to more efficiency to health services.
