Defense Minister Walter Astudillo said at a press conference that, according to the information provided by local firefighters in La Libertad, five people died at the scene and a Friday in a hospital as a result of the collapse.
Three people in serious condition
Also according to Walter Astudillo, 30 injured people have already been discharged and 48 remain hospitalized, of which three in serious condition.
The minister expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
Local Fire Department chief Luis Roncal confirmed that they found “no sign of life” as they monitored with rescue dogs, but that the search for survivors would continue.
However, Mayor of Trujillo, Mario Reyna, announced the closing of the shopping center “due to the imminent risk” and said his executive intended to inspect other shopping centers.
