SP: fugitive is arrested during carnival after caught with facial recognition

A 29 -year -old man, identified as Iverton Vicente dos Santos, was arrested on Saturday afternoon (22) by the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) while circulating by a carnival block on Augusta Street in downtown São Paulo.

According to the city, it was identified by cameras of the program Smart Sampa, which uses facial recognition. Speed ​​since March 2023, he had been pre -tried for the Bahia court.

The technology allowed identification by crossing data from the Justice Bank with the Sampa Sampa Network. After the warning, GCM agents approached and arrested the suspect, who was referred to the 78th Police District in the Gardens, where he is available to the courts.

Since November, Sampa’s cameras have assisted in the arrest of 711 fugitives (about 10% of them with arrest decreed in other states), 1866 prisoners in the act and 34 missing.
