The elections in Germany records the highest participation from the reunification: Broken 84%

The participation in the general elections of Germany has promoted between 83% and 84%, according to the forecasts of the ZDF and ARD public television networks, which is the highest figure since the country’s reunification in 1990.

In the 2021 legislative elections, the participation was 76.4%, so this time it was surpassed by 6.6 or 7.6 points.

According to the NTV chain, participation was only higher with 83.4% in 1987. After reunification the highest participation was in 1998 with 82.2%.

That participation was on its way to a record was already intuiting when the Central Electoral Commission of Germany announced a percentage of 52% at 5 pm.

Almost 59 million Germans were summoned to the polls this Sunday to choose a new lower house, in elections that were won by the conservative block, followed by the extreme right and social democracy.
