The first brown meadows appeared at the foot of the Großglockner in early February. And that despite the fact that Kals in East Tyrol is at over 1300 meters above sea level and the snow report of the ski area in the valley still promised 30 centimeters. The ongoing winter season is still a positive outlier compared to previous years, regarding the snow conditions – or at least the snowmaking of the slopes. Nevertheless, the question will soon arise in the future: What will offer the guests who want to come in March, April or May when the crocuses are the first spring messenger to make the backdrop around the highest mountain in the country, but still a long way is removed and therefore closed a lot?
