"A great man who did a lot for us": faithful pray for Pope Francis in Fatima

The Portuguese Catholics who went to Mass on Sunday morning maintain hope in the Pope’s recovery. But some already take stock of the pontificate. Lisbon’s patriarchy even says that Francis may surprise.

The connection of Fatima is old and special. Francis has been twice in the sanctuary since he is the head of the Catholic Church. The faithful take advantage of Fatima’s symbolism to pray.

In Porto, the usual Sunday Mass was focused on the health of Francisco. Also in Lisbon prayers carry the hope of millions of Catholics in the Pope’s recovery.

At Masses this morning in Oeiras and Vila Nova de Gaia, he was prayed for the Holy Father, while taking stock of the pontificate and the church scandals are not left out.

Lisbon’s patriarchy believes the Pope will surprise.
