Algarve dams rise to 54%, but Well continues with low levels

Algarve dams are 54% of their total water storage capacity after the last rains, but the recovery is asymmetrical, with those of the west (west) with still low levels, according to APA.

Data sent this Monday to Lusa by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) show that mainly the January rains allowed that on February 21, 2025 the capacity of the six Algarvian dams was 54% of its total.

A year earlier this percentage was 34%, minus 20 percentage points, which means a 90 cubic hectimeters (HM3) of water for one year, now 240 hm3.

APA source highlighted to Lusa the current situation in the dams of Odeleite (79%) and bunk (72%).

“The least good news is that the recovery was asymmetrical from the 90 hm3 fit. Resulting from the January rains, more than 70% was on the leventy side [este]”He lamented the same source.

It recalls that the Algarve is the only region that has two dams with less than 20% of its capacity (bravery and arade), which are in the Wind (West).

Thus, while the damage dams have greatly increased their storage and have a capacity of much above 50%, those of the Well remain difficult to fill the same percentages due to less abundant rains.

On the levent, the Odeleite dam is now 79% of its capacity (103.10 hm3) and 72% (34.55 hm3) bunk bed.

In the Well Percentages are less important, with Odelouca registering 43% of their capacity (67.01 hm3), Arade 18% (5.01 hm3), 17% bravery (5.82 hm3) and 50% fennel (24.05 hm3).
