The municipality of Aljezur submitted an application to the Mar 2030 program, through the candidacy management service, with the objective of improving the working conditions and well-being of the municipality’s fishermen.
This project, financed by community funds, will directly benefit the fishing communities of Carrapateira and Arrifana, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to sustainable development and the resilience of these traditional activities.
Among the main objectives, we highlight the improvement of collective working conditions for fishermen, shellfish and tour operators, ensuring greater energy efficiency and reduction of operating costs. The initiative will contribute to the energy transition and the decarbonization of the sector, making fishing activities more sustainable.
In addition, a fish traceability system will be developed, valuing the “Fish on the Vincentian” brand, ensuring better conditions of transportation and conservation of the packed fish and implementing renewable energy systems in fishing infrastructures, promoting their energy self -sufficiency.
The Mar 2030 program, inserted in Portugal 2030, aims to promote the sustainable development of fishing communities and the appreciation of local resources.
The Municipality of Aljezur ensures “transparency and responsibility in the management of funds, ensuring compliance with the required financing and execution rules”.
