Conservative Merz assumes a desire to train government with social democrats

CDU leader expects to reach an agreement to Easter

CDU conservative leader Friedrich Merz, winner of Sunday’s legislative elections in Germany, assumed the desire to form a government coalition with the SPD social democrats, hoping to reach an agreement to Easter.

“I am determined to maintain positive, fast and constructive discussions with social democrats in order to form a coalition government […] Around Easter night, on April 20 ”, within two months, said Merz, at the headquarters of the Democratic Union (CDU) in Berlin.

Pointing out that the conservative block – formed by CDU and its Bavarian Bavarian Christian Union (CSU) – won 208 seats in the future Bundestag (Low Chamber of the German Parliament), which, joining the 120 deputies elected by the Chancellor’s SPD socialists, Olaf Scholz, allows 328 places from the 630 of Parliament, Merz noted that the conditions are gathered for reissue the so -called “great coalition”.

“And that’s exactly what we want,” Merz took over, who had already ruled out any cooperation with the Far-right Alternative Party for Germany (AFD), the second most voted political force in Sunday’s elections.
