The conservative winner of the early parliamentary elections in Germany and the candidate for the post of Friedrich Merz Federal Chancellor on Monday in Berlin said he would strive for good relations with the United States under the reign of President Donald Trump, but he is also ready for “the worst scenario”. TASR informs according to DPA and AFP.

At a press conference, Merz said “hope that we can preserve transatlantic ties”, but at the same time warned that “all the signals we receive from the United States indicate that interest in Europe is declining”.

The head of the CDU/CSU Conservative Block, which won the weekend elections to the Federal Assembly, has already announced on Monday that he would seek to compile a government coalition with the Middle -Social Social Democrats (SPD).

At the Monday press conference in Berlin, however, he also pointed out that the increase in votes for the alternative for Germany (AfD), described as right -wing country, supported by 20 percent of voters in the elections is “the last warning” for the main political parties in the country.

AFD has achieved its historically best election result

The anti -immigration AfD achieved its historically best election result in Sunday’s elections. The election campaign in Germany was marked by deadly incidents, including the impact of the car into a crowd of demonstrators or knife attacks, for which responsibility is attributed to migrants, AFP recalls.

Merz from the Center -Spit Center Christian Democrats promised to restrict migration and “zero tolerance” of law and law to alleviate public concerns and to recover voters who tend to divert to the far right.

“This is indeed the latest warning of the political parties of the democratic Wednesday in Germany to reach joint solutions,” Merz added in Berlin. He pointed out high profits of votes for AfD, especially in the east of the country, which was part of the communist bloc in the past.

Merz is expected to start negotiations aimed at creating a coalition government. As he added, “we have to work together to solve problems in Germany” in order to “gradually deprive this party for its breeding ground” quotes AFP.

The elections show that CDU/CSU and SPD will have a total of 328 chairs in the 630-member Bundestag. The CDU/CSU block won 28.5 percent of the votes and Merz is on the best way to become a future German office. The conservatives ended up with a profit of 20.8 percent of the vote alternative for Germany (AfD). Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) with a profit of 16.4 percent of the votes and a decline of more than nine percentage points recorded historically the worst election result.
