On the day of the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin appealed to the next German government to increase pressure on companies doing business in Russia.

Ukrainian ambassador to Berlin Olexij Makeyev hopes that the future German government will put more pressure on companies in the country to stop their business in Russia. If businesses have been working there for three years since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, they help to finance the war efforts of Moscow, Makeyev told journalists on Monday. According to the DPA report, TASR reports this.

“I expect the new government to send a clear signal to the economy – leave Russia!” The Ambassador said on the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine and also the day after the parliamentary elections in Germany. As a result of sanctions, many German companies have already stopped doing business in Russia. Acting in areas that are not covered by foods, consumer goods, healthcare, and Building materials, writes DPA.

Believe in the quick creation of a new government

Makeyev, together with the Polish Ambassador to Berlin, told Jan Tombinski journalists that they were hoping to create the German government quickly. Sunday’s early parliamentary elections in Germany ended in the CDU/CSU Conservative Block victory before the alternative for Germany (AfD), social democrats (SPD), green and left left.

The Ukrainian ambassador has been informed in advance that the German government would be able to decide on Ukraine matters during the government exchange period, DPA said. “Germany is the most important partner of Ukraine in Europe,” Makeyev said.

The future German government should be advocated for the more independent conduct of Europe on defense and armament industry, Tombinski, referring to the current complex transatlantic relations.
