Russia wants a long-term peace agreement on Ukraine that addresses what the root causes of the conflict and not a quick ceasefire supported by the US followed by a rapid restart of the fighting, a senior Russian diplomat told the news agency told the news diplomat Ria.

In an interview released on Monday (24), on the third anniversary of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister said Moscow was behind an agreement with Ukraine resisting the time test.

“We can recognize sufficiently the desire on the American side of moving toward one,” said Ryabkov, quoted by Ria.

“But… a ceasefire without a long-term agreement is the way for a rapid resumption of combat and a resumption of conflict with even more serious consequences, including consequences for Russian American relations. We don’t want that, ”he added.

“We need to find a long-term solution, which, in turn, must necessarily include an element of overcoming the root causes of what has been happening in Ukraine and around it,” said the deputy minister.

where Moscow said he agreed to work in the restoration of bilateral ties and preparation for negotiations with Ukraine, they offered no more clarity about President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine, Ryabkov said.

He repeated Moscow’s position that he had no choice but to launch what he calls “special military operation” in Ukraine – something that Ukraine and the West call a brutal conquest war in the colonial style, due to what he said be the “unrestricted” expansion of the NATO covenant to the east.

He also complained about what he called the Russian rights in Russian in Ukraine, repeating an allegation that Kiev denies.
