Fighting will only be stopped if the peaceful solution will resume Russia.
Russia is ready for negotiations on the war in Ukraine, but the fighting will only stop when the peaceful solution “suits” Moscow. This was stated on Monday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to Ankara. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
“We will only stop fighting when these negotiations bring a solid and sustainable outcome compliant with the Russian Federation,” Lavrov said on the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine at a joint press conference with Turkish counterparts Hakan Fidan.
Šef Turkish diplomacy said that Ankara supports the United States initiative to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, but the solution “can be achieved through negotiations in which both parties participate”.
Last week, Russian and American officials met at the war on war in Ukraine in Saudi Arabia. The meeting took place without the participation of Kiev.
Turkey supports negotiations and is ready for any steps
Fidan also said that Turkey is ready to take any steps to help bring peace. “Our goal is to end this devastating war as soon as possible and cure wounds in the region,” Fidan said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last week after the meeting with the Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Ankara that Turkey would be an “ideal host” for possible talks between Russia, Ukraine and America to end the war.
In March 2022, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Ukraine – Sergei Lavrov and Dmytro Kuleb met in the Turkish resort of Antalya. The meeting was initiated by Turkey.
Turkey condemned the Russian invasion and claims that it supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and provided military support for Kiev. Ankara, however, disagrees with the sanctions of the West against Moscow, which is associated with important bonds in the field of defense, energy and tourism.
Lavrov will also meet President Erdogan on Monday in Ankara, writes AFP.
