FPA wants more predictability and definition of resources with LDO to avoid further suspensions
The President of the (Parliamentary Front of Agriculture), Deputy (PP-PR), defended this 3rd (25.FEV.2025) the reformulation of the crop plan and the early definition of resources to avoid new. The bench proposes that the program is integrated into the LDO (Budgetary Guidelines Law) to ensure predictability to the productive sector.
According to Lupion, the current model was conceived for a specific crop and no longer meets the reality of agribusiness. “We need him to go back to the beginning of the year. We have tried this for a long time, but it depends on a budget and fiscal restructuring ”, these.
The suspension of hiring the program was announced by the National Treasury on Thursday (20.FEV). The measure led to an immediate reaction from the agro bench and sector entities. In response, the government issued a MP (Provisional Measure) R $ 4.2 billion.
Despite the release of resources, Lupion stated that the episode showed the need for structural adjustments. “We cannot keep working with budget scares. The sector needs predictability to plan their harvests and investments ”, declared.
Also highlighted was the importance of the crop plan for the safrinha, during which the producers perform the 2nd crop of the year, usually corn and other short cycle crops. Lack of predictability in resources can directly impact this production by reducing supply and pressing food prices.
Secondary role of the Ministry of Agriculture
Another point criticized by the FPA is the political articulation of the government in the agricultural area. Lupion said the sector’s main dialogue has occurred with OAS, leaving the Map (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) in “2nd plan”.
About a possible break with the (PSD-MT) ministry, Lupion’s response was that “There is no break when there is no relationship.”
The Lula government has not yet manifested itself about a possible change in the format of the crop plan. The FPA proposal will be discussed in the coming months with the economic team and congressional leaders.
