Validation of invoices on the Finance Portal is an essential step in ensuring that expenses made throughout the year are correctly considered for the purposes of Deduction in the IRS. However, several taxpayers have reported technical difficulties in accessing the portal, a situation that can compromise regularization within the deadline, which ends this Tuesday.

The Tax Authority (AT) has already recognized the constraints and suggests an alternative: the use of the app e-startavailable for Android and iOS.

The importance of invoice validation

Invoices that have been associated with the taxpayer’s tax identification number (NIF) over 2024 need to be verified and validated by February 27. This process is crucial, especially for expenses that have been pending due to differences in communication between the issuents and the AT system.

Among the most common cases of pending invoices are those issued by providers with multiple activity records (CAE), as well as those associated with independent workers who pass green receipts. Without validation, these expenses may not be considered in the IRS deduction.

The failure in the Finance Portal

On Monday, the eve of the deadline, the Finance Portal was unavailable for several periods. Also throughout this Tuesday, several users reported difficulties in access, receiving messages such as: “An unexpected error occurred in the system, please try later.”

In view of this situation, News to the Minute contacted the Ministry of Finance to realize if there may be an extension of the deadline, but so far has no response.

The alternative: validate invoices in the E-Factment App

AT recommends taxpayers to use the application e-start as an alternative to the online portal. The app allows you to validate and classify invoices simply, avoiding possible technical failures on the site.

The application is available for Android EE can be used with the same credentials as the Finance Portal.

What happens after the deadline?

If invoices are not validated by the end of the day on the Finance Portal, taxpayers will still have the possibility to consult the determination of expenses between 16 and 31 March. During this period, it will be possible to verify the deductions awarded by the OT and, if failures are identified, submit a complaint.

In addition, taxpayers may choose to refuse the amounts automatically calculated by the OT and manually introduce health, education, housing and homes in the Annual IRS statement, whose delivery period runs between April 1 and June 30.
