Graz cultural policy: cuts for free scene and “innovative strength”

Graz – In times of scarce budgets, the Graz cultural landscape is also affected by cuts. For the free scene in Graz, it was EUR 1.8 million less than in the previous year, said Kulturstadt council Günter Riegler (ÖVP) on Tuesday in Graz. The funding fell from around twelve to EUR 10.2 million and will not be higher in 2026. Under the title “Today in the morning”, Riegler presented the city’s new cultural mission statement, which, among other things, relies on networking and cooperation.
