The Vice -President of the Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for European Affairs Beáta Jurík (PS) with the United for Ukraine group visited Kiev. During the journey, she spoke with several Ukrainian officials, including the President of Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Olha Stefanišyn and President Volodymyr Greenský. MEP Jurík said at a meeting with the Ukrainian president that people in Slovakia are clear about who is in the conflict between Kiev and Moscow aggressor and who the victim. “Slovakia is not just Robert Fico. Hundreds of thousands of people in our squares and the streets consider Ukraine our neighbor and friend. Thank you for your heroism and for fighting for our freedom and security. The main topics of the meeting with Greeny were forms of assistance of European countries, an agreement with the US, but also sanctions against Russia, repeatedly the need for unity in the EU.
He and Stefanišyn opened the issue of access negotiations to the EU, which is currently blocking Hungary. “Ukraine belongs to the EU,” Jurik pointed out. At the same time, the deputy appreciated the reforms that Ukraine has already introduced in an effort to meet the access conditions. According to her, EU membership would provide some form of protection and support.
During the visit, Jurík also spoke at the Yalta European Conference, whose main topic was “time to win”.
The opposition MP accepted the invitation of the United for Ukraine, and on Sunday, she traveled to Kiev on the occasion of the third anniversary of the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukraine. She described the journey as symbolic and evidence that Europe continues to be behind Ukraine.
