Carnival in SP should receive 4.4 million vehicles

Greater movement is expected in Ayrton Senna-Carvalho Pinto and Anhangueira-Bandeirantes systems

The main highways granted from the state of São Paulo should receive a large volume of traffic during the prolonged carnival holiday. According to the (São Paulo State Transport Agency), about 4.4 million vehicles are expected to travel between February 28 and March 5, 2025 in the main access and exit routes of the state capital.

In the Anchieta-Imigrantes System, operated by Ecovias, approximately 875,000 vehicles should travel, with greater movement to the coastline on Friday (28.FEV.2025), from 14h to 23h, and Saturday (01.2025 ), from 6am to 2pm. The return will be more intense on Tuesday (04.mar.2025), from 12h to 22h, and on Wednesday (05.mar.2025), from 8h to 12h.

The Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System projects 1 million vehicles circulating through the highways with peak times on the 6th (28.FEV.2025), from 16h to 20h, and Saturday (01.mar.2025), from 09h to 13h . The return will be more intense on Tuesday (04.mar.2025), from 15h to 22h, and on Wednesday (05.mar.2025), from 10h to 12h.

The Castello Branco-Raposo Tavares System, managed by the Viaoeste, should receive 654 thousand vehicles, with the highest exit flow on Friday (28.FEV.2025), between 16h and 20h, and Saturday (01.mar.2025), from 9am to 1pm. During the return of the holiday, intense traffic is expected on Tuesday (04.mar.2025), from 15h to 22h, and on Wednesday (05.mar.2025), from 10h to 12h.

In the Ayrton Senna-Carvalho Pinto corridor, administered by Ecopistas, about 1.3 million vehicles are expected, with peak times on Friday (28.Fev.2025), from 16h to 22h, and on Saturday ( 01.mar.2025), from 7h to 14h. The return should be intense on March 4 and 5, from 12h to 20h.

The Highways SP-088 (Mogi/Dutra), SP-098 (Mogi/Bertioga) and SP-055 (Riviera/Santos and Praia Grande/Miracatu) should receive about 325 thousand vehicles. To improve fluidity, there will be reversible operation (2 × 1) in Serra Mogi-Bertioga (SP-098) and the relief of the shoulder at SP-055 (Riviera de São Lourenço), with monitoring of the Military Highway Police.

Already on the Tamoios Highway (SP-099), 177 thousand vehicles are expected. The excerpt operated by the concessionaire includes Free Flow Porch in the South Contour (SPI 097/055), which gives access to São Sebastião. Users without active tags will have the plaque and vehicle identified by the gantry cameras, generating a 30 -day payment guide on the channels provided by the concessionaire.

In the southern and east sections of the Mario Covas Rodoanel, managed by SPMAR, it is estimated to circulate approximately 1 million thousand vehicles during the holiday. The west stretch, managed by CCR Rodoanel, projects to receive 1.3 million vehicles.

Operational resources

To ensure greater tranquility for drivers, the Artesp Information Control Center, together with the concessionaire’s Operational Control Centers (CCOS), will continually monitor more than 11,000 kilometers from the granted road network, operating 24 hours with full capacity throughout the holiday period.

Additionally, users traveling through the state’s highways have a network of more than 236 ambulances, 325 winches and 223 User Service (Sau) service stations and bases.
