CEZ began arbitration against Gazprom in Geneva two years ago due to the reduction of the agreed gas supplies. The Czech semi -state company argued that it ordered supplies before the Russian invasion of Ukraine and had to replace the subsequent outage with more expensive gas. The arbitration court ordered Gazprom to pay not only the damage, but also the interest on delay and the cost of the proceedings.
Daniel Beneš, CEO of CEZ Beneš, said in the past that Russia has begun an energy war against Europe about a year before the invasion of Ukraine. The Russian gas giant also leads arbitration disputes with other European companies, including Czech innoga.
