Hospital director Motol goes to custody: The hearing lasted nearly three hours

District Court for Prague 5 Wednesday He sent to the former director of the Motol Miloslav Ludvík University Hospital, accused in an extensive corruption case. When Ludvík led to the hearing room on Wednesday morning, he did not want to comment on the case. When asked by journalists, what he says, according to the police in the Motol hospital, he only shook his head. According to the CT24 station, the hearing lasted almost three hours. The court imposed custody because of concern that Ludvík could escape, influence witnesses or continue criminal activity.

In total, there are 17 people accused of damaging the EU’s financial interests, subsidy fraud, bribery or money laundering in the case of the police. According to the police, prosecution systematically abused processes in awarding hospital public contracts. The main suspect is in danger of up to 12 years in prison.

The FN Motol is the largest medical facility in the Czech Republic and one of the directly managed hospitals under the Ministry of Health. Ludvík has been the director since 2000 with a short break when he was the Minister of Health. The head of the department Vlastimil Válek, in response to the police intervention and the accused, dismissed him on Monday. On Wednesday, he first commented on the case that he had no indications of what was happening in the highest leadership of the hospital. If he knew something, he would immediately dismiss the director.
