You can drown in any way. In Sweden, they invented a new way to get heat without burdening nature.

It is known about Scandinavian countries that they care much about ecology. Therefore, they try to move as much as possible from fossil fuels to pure energy sources. Whether it concerns the use of electric vehicles (electric cars) or the frequency of construction of wind or hydroelectric power plants. In recent years, another improvement – ecological heating has appeared in Scandinavia! Its essence is that households use “waste” heat companies from the vicinity.

The author of the video, the Energy Globe Award appreciated the Swedish approach to economical heating. More on YouTube.com.

Use of residual heat

Most often these are companies where excess, waste heat from industrial processes such as wastewater treatment plants, sewage treatment companies, metro systems, hospitals, hotels… H&M clothing company, which has supplied several thousand households with its excess heat. In recent years, data centers have been used as a heat source, of which there are plenty of Scandinavia and have a huge residual heat.

Data centers

A positive example is Facebook or Microsoft, which supplies thousands of households in Denmark. But even the Swedes did not be ashamed, and in their capital Stockholm built a network of 20 city data centers, which are connected to the digital heating system and supply their excess heat to the network, where 100 GWh for nearly 30,000 households are formed annually.

Quid pro quo

This effective way of heating with Scandinavians has proven several times and the Swedes are planning to use this heat as much as possible. Their aim is to cover up to 10 % of households from data centers. In fact, even the centers themselves are not track. The Swedish state pays them for this “charity” and at the same time it allows a lower tax on electricity consumption. So both sides earn it.

Investing in the future

The Swedish government also calculated it well. It has been found that one larger data center will release so much thermal energy as 2 – 3 wind power plants. In addition, the operation of data centers is not dependent on weather conditions and public subsidies, so they are much more interesting for Scandinavian policies. Sweden therefore has a courageous plan – by 2040, by 2040, the data centers will get rid of all fossil heat sources. Nature just thanks them for this decision.
