During a panel on Wednesday (26), the president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, commented the infiltration of organized crime in different instances of society.
“We are living a time when organized crime begins to contaminate policy and formal economy with different money laundering mechanisms,” he said during the lecture promoted by BTG Pactual.
He listed three types of crime, which he classified as “worrying.” They are: common crime, organized crime and institutionalized crime.
“The first of these dysfunctions, especially serious, is the theme of. This is a theme that needs to enter the Brazilian agenda in an afflicted way. The growth of crime, the growth of organized crime, the increase of violence, the territorial domain of many areas, and what is happening in the Amazon are facts that need to worry all people who are committed to making a better country and a larger country. ” , he said.
According to Barroso, “institutionalized crime” is one that “settles within the state with a tolerant culture of deviation of resources”.
Among the problems that trigger the issue faced today, the magistrate cited education.
“Education remains a Brazilian problem and that is what delayed us in history,” he said.
“There is no way for Brazil to become truly developed without an elevation of public ethics and private ethics in the country,” he added.
