For a fast and filling dinner for the whole family, “cheated sour soup”, or soup on buttermilk, will be perfect. It impresses with a characteristic, slightly sour taste and creamy consistency. It will take you only a few minutes. Check a simple recipe for this Old Polish dish.

In traditional Polish recipes we will find a lot of sour soups. The addition of acid makes meat or vegetable decoctions a completely new taste, and they are full of nutritional values.

Acid soups bring us to mind those made of silage, i.e. cucumbers and cabbage. Sometimes we will also think about those with flour sourdough or sorrel. However, former splashed milk coating is forgotten.

Such a sour soup is one of the old Polish soups. She often hosted both peasant and noble tables.

We are currently making soup on buttermilk – it is sometimes called “cheated cheese”because it resembles its taste, but it is prepared much faster. We don’t have to do sourdough.

Buttermilk, like sourdough, gives the soup characteristic acidity. Thanks to the simplicity of performance and a shorter cooking time, the casting can easily compete with a classic soup, especially when we care about a quick, tasty dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 l buttermilk;
  • 2 crap;
  • 100 g bacon;
  • 6 potatoes;
  • 3 carrots;
  • 1 parsley;
  • 1 piece of time;
  • 3 cloves of garlic;
  • 3 bay leaves;
  • 2 grains of allspice;
  • Spices: salt, pepper, marjoram.

Preparation:

To make soup in buttermilk, put the bacon first into the pot and fry it on low heat. Add the sausage to it and garlic squeezed through the Prague. Fry for a moment until the sausage is browned.

In the next step add chopped vegetables: carrots, parsley, leek and potatoes. Pour a teaspoon of salt and simmer for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.

Then add the water so that it covers the vegetables. Put bay leaves and allspice. Cook on medium heat until the potatoes are softened.

Then Pour some decoction to the bowl and add 2 buttermilk to itto harde her. After a while, pour the liquid into the pot. Do the same with the next portions of buttermilk.

Reduce heat to a minimum and heat the decoction until it starts to boil gently. Finally, season the soup on the buttermilk at your discretion.
