SAO PAULO (Reuters)-Braskem announced on Thursday agreement with Petrobras to increase ethylene production in Rio de Janeiro, a project that only investments in engineering studies have a disbursement forecast of R $ 233 million, according to the group’s statement.
The company, which released earlier damage of R $ 5.65 billion to the fourth quarter, said the expansion of Ethen Capacity of Duque de Caxias (RJ) is foreseen in 220 thousand tons per year, as well as equivalent volumes of polyethylene.
For this expansion, Braskem agreed agreement with Petrobras, one of its controllers, to receive from the state ethane, raw material of the ethyus, “due to the greater availability of natural gas in Brazil.”
Petrochemistry said that “it will seek the resources provided for in the Special Chemical Industry Regime (REIQ), which provides for a presumed credit of 1.5% of PIS/COFINS for investments in expanding the installed capacity of the Brazilian chemical industry.
