The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL)has 42% approval and 48% disapproval, according to the genius/Quaest poll released on Wednesday (25). Another 10% of respondents did not know or did not want to answer.
When asked about management assessment, 24% of voters classified it as positive, while 35% consider it regular and 31% evaluate as negative.
The survey also analyzed the voters’ perception of the state’s situation in relation to the rest of the country. For 62% of respondents, Rio is worse than other states, while 25% consider the situation better. Another 13% could not answer. Regarding the future, 18% believe that the state is improving, while 45% say it is stopped and 36% consider that the situation is worsening.
Among the evaluated sectors, the attraction of companies was the best performance area of the administration of Claudio Castro, with 30% positive evaluation. However, management was considered only regular by 47% of respondents in employment and income, while public security recorded the worst assessment, with 59% classifying government performance as bad.
Elections 2026
The survey also tested scenarios for the governor’s election in 2026. The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, followed by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), with 20%.
Regarding the possibility of Claudio Castro electing a successor, 39% of voters believe he deserves to indicate a name, while 52% reject this idea. Another 9% could not answer. The result of the research points out a challenging scenario for the continuity of the current government and highlights the competitiveness of the electoral dispute in Rio de Janeiro to 2026.

The survey listened to 1,404 voters 16 years or older, between 19 and 23 February, and has a margin of error of three percentage points for more or less.
