A high-risk situation was avoided at Midway International Airport in Chicago, when a Southwest Airlines plane managed to divert a private jet on the track without permission. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning and was recorded in several videos shared on social networks.
In the images, the commercial plane approaches to land, but, when detecting the presence of the other device, performs a sudden maneuver to gain altitude again, thus avoiding a possible collision.
The Federal Aviation Administration has already opened an investigation into the case, indicating that the private plane has moved to the track without prior authorization. The Southwest Airlines company secured in a statement that the aircraft was able to land safely after the precautionary maneuver. Also Flexjet, a company responsible for the private jet, has confirmed that it is investigating the facts related to the incident.
