Dry and Politics highlighted at Loulé Carnival with 15 floats and 600 extras

Fifteen floats and 600 extras will cheer up the three days of Loulé Carnival parade, between Sunday and Tuesday, this year dedicated to drought and with an investment of 470 thousand euros.

Under the motto “Carnival is not a drought…”, Corso Algarve is “a more affordable, more popular way of sensitizing people, albeit at a party and in a revelry environment, for drought and the problems that can come to all of us,” said the mayor of Loulé, Vítor Aleixo.

“It is a carnival that, once again, is concentrated again on environmental themes and has this particularity of making serious subjects of play. That is, let’s play with serious things, ”said the president of that municipality in the district of Faro, at a press conference held at the warehouse where the parade is prepared.

The problems of lack of water in the Algarve region inspire several floats, especially the one that carries the long -awaited desalinizing, “the sprint that will make water”, and for another that deals with the proliferation of avocado, associated with excessive water consumption.

The ‘dolls’ of the Minister of Agriculture and Zé Povinho, which protects their carobeiras and almond trees, are used with the promise of “every drop of water being used with intelligence”, and the natural and environmental beauties of the county are also focused.

The satire extends to political and sports means, with cars dedicated to the next presidential elections, with the figures of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Marques Mendes and Gouveia and Melo, and the presence of António Costa as a new strong man of the European Council.

The new US President Donald Trump and his “anti-immigration measurements” are the target in the car “in the country of the Trumpalhada”, while Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Corso dressed in the colors (yellow and blue) of the local club, the same as his current emblem, the Saudi Al Nassr.

In total there are 15 floats and about 600 animators, with samba schools, animation groups, heads and gigantones, which animate the three parades, between 02 and 04 March.

According to the mayor of Loulé, about 30 thousand people are expected per day, the maximum capacity of the closed room on José da Costa Mealha Avenue, in the city center, with nine parks of parking for spectators.

“We expect the maximum influx. This carnival took more than two months to prepare, with very beautiful cars, and we have the self -expectation of having the usual revelers that move from the north and south of the country, and abroad as well, ”said the president of.

The Loulé Carnival budget will be 470 thousand euros, very similar to last year.

A store with about 400 facts and fantasies is also available, which can be rented temporarily.

Tickets for the parades, which take place in the three days, between 15:00 and 18:00, have a cost of two euros.

Revenues will be attributed to social causes and extras groups, which represent local collectivities. In 2024, almost 50 thousand euros were collected by the municipality, attributed to four institutions of social solidarity drawn and ten collectivities.

The Carnival program in Loulé, which started this Wednesday with three thousand children in the usual children’s parade at the county headquarters, also has the traditional gala ball, on Monday night.
