SAO PAULO, SP (Folhapress)-US President Donald Trump had his first office meeting of this term on Wednesday (26) at the White House. The moment, which was attended by billionaire Elon Musk -close to the Republican -marks a general alignment of crucial issues to American positioning both nationally and outside.
Among the Middle East and Ukraine wars, as well as domestic themes such as the new Gold Card, the country’s debt and the new limits imposed on the press, the meeting reflected the tone that the Republican has given to his government.
See below the main topics of this moment.

Middle East War
In referring to war in the Middle East, the Republican said that the decision on how to proceed with the ceasefire in Gaza should be taken by Israel. In the background of this speech, in addition to the instability of the first phase of ceasefire, is the proposal of Trump-consisted by Israel-to assume control of the Palestinian territory and rebuild it as the “Riviera of the Middle East” and thus shift millions of local citizens.
In contrast, Arab states evaluate a postwar plan to combat the idea of the Republican. The proposal of the region of the region, mainly Egyptian responsibility, may include up to $ 20 billion in financing over three years.
Ukraine War
During the meeting, Trump also stated that Ukraine President Volodimir Zelenski should go to Washington on Friday (28) to sign a mineral agreement, but suggested that the United States will not give long-term security guarantees, as the Ukranian expects.
The agreement, according to which Kiev would deliver part of the revenue of its mineral resources to a joint controlled fund by the US, is essential for Ukrainian attempts to obtain strong support from Trump while he seeks a quick end to the Russian war -specially in a context in which negotiations between US and Russia, who have so far excluded Kiev, are scheduled to continue on Thursday.
Kiev seeks US security guarantees as part of the agreement, presented by Trump as a payment for US help to Ukraine during the war. “I won’t give security guarantees… Let’s let Europe do that,” said Trump.
Relationship with China
Still in international relations, Trump refused to comment on a question about whether the US would allow China to take control of Taiwan by force. “I never comment that,” he said. “I never want to put myself in this position.”
The Republican said he intends to have good relations with China, including transfrance investments, despite the imposition of rates on products in the country. Beijing never denied the possibility of using the force to put Taiwan under his control. Taiwan, on the other hand, is strongly opposed to the claims of sovereignty of China.
The US has long said that they do not support Taiwan’s formal independence statement. However, it maintains unofficial relations with the autonomous island and remains its main sponsor and gun supplier, under a law that requires Washington to provide Taiwan ways to defend himself.
The US government traditionally follows a policy of strategic ambiguity, without making it clear whether they would respond militarily to a possible attack on Taiwan. Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden, adopted a different approach during his term, however, saying that US forces would defend Taiwan if China attacked the territory.
GOLD CARD
The US president also resumed the idea of Gold Card, which his government announced on Tuesday. According to him, the proposal – in that US residency permission can be bought for $ 5 million – would help the country pay its debt, while offering major companies a way to attract the best immigrant workers. Trump said the sale should start in about two weeks.
Trump Gold Card would be a kind of Green Card, permanent residence permission in the US, and replace the so -called investor visa, which allows you to live in the US by investing at least $ 1 million in a company that has at least ten employees.
Pressed press
The first cabinet meeting also marked a new position from the US government regarding the coverage of press vehicles. The White House denied access by reporters from Reuters, HuffPost, and the German newspaper Der Tagespiegel, as well as an Associated Press photographer, in a gesture in compliance with the new policy.
On Tuesday (25), the government announced that it would determine which vehicles would cover the president in smaller spaces, as is the case of the meeting. The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) traditionally coordinates the rotation of the presidential press group.
White House Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that while traditional media organizations are still allowed to cover Trump on a daily basis, the government plans to change those who participate in the narrower occasions. The Pool system, administered by WhCA, allowed selected television, radio, agency, press, and photojournalists to cover events and shared their reports with external media.
This Wednesday, ABC and Newsmax TV teams, along with Axios, Blaze, Bloomberg News and NPR correspondents were allowed to cover the event.
