Macron of France and Merz da Germany agree with a new chapter in relations, says source
At a meeting in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron and the leader of the conservative Germany Party, Friedrich Merz, agreed to open a new chapter in Franco-German relations, a source close to Merz to Reuters told.
“There was a lot of agreement and several starting points for joint initiatives,” the source said, adding that Wednesday’s meeting (26) at Elisha Palace was marked by a friendly atmosphere.
In Washington on Monday (24), the European Union leaders reported on the outcome of negotiations on Wednesday (26).
Merz, whose conservatives were first in an early election last week, should try from the current German chancellor, who were in third place.
He repeatedly said that Europe must come together in the face of and should quickly establish independent defense capacity.
