“Traumatic” vacation for Venice. For four hours, Mitchell was forced to travel next to the corpse of a woman who died on board.
An Australian couple lived a “traumatic” moment while traveling to the romantic Italian destination of Venice.
According to Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin, a woman died in the corridor of the plane on her flight with Qatar Airways, and her body was placed next to the couple, who shared the whole story with the Australian television channel Channel 9.
The couple ensures that the crew put the woman’s body, covered with blankets, next to Ring during the four hours that were still left on the flight between Melbourne, Australia, and Doha, at Qatar.
Although allegedly there are still empty places available, Jennifer’s husband says he has been prevented from changing places.
Qatar Airways has already apologized for “any annoyance or suffering that this incident may have caused,” adding that he was contacting the flight passengers. The couple said, however, that it was not contacted or received support from Qatar Airways or Qantas, the airline for which they reserved the flight.
Ring told Channel 9 that the team reacted “quickly” when the woman passed out, but “unfortunately she could not be saved, which was very difficult to see.” The crew will have tried to transfer the body of the passenger to the run class, “but she was a very large woman, and could not pass with her body through the corridor.”
Ring said the crew saw that there were places available by his side, “They asked, ‘Can you move there, please?’, And I said, ‘Yes, no problem.’ Then they put the woman in the chair where I was. ” The woman managed to move to a nearby empty place, but Ring guarantees that the crew didn’t give her the option of doing the same-although there were empty places.
When the plane landed four hours later, the passengers will have been asked to stay in their seats while the medical team and police up board. When the paramedics began to remove the blankets from above the woman, the couple says they saw their face.
“They should have come into contact to make sure: do you need support, therapy?”, Defends the couple, quoted by, classifying the experience as “traumatic“.
“We understand perfectly perfectly that we cannot hold the airline responsible for the poor woman’s death, but a protocol is needed to take care of customers on board,” said Jennifer Colin.
In a statement, Qatar Airways sent condolences to the passenger family “which, unfortunately, died aboard our flight” and apologized “for any inconvenience or suffering that this incident may have caused.”
A Qantas spokesman has distanced himself from any responsibilities, saying that “the process for dealing with incidents aboard an aircraft like this is managed by the operator, which, in this case, is Qatar Airways.”
