Criminal shot after a group of Argentines reacting to the robbery, hitting two of them; Rio de Janeiro Civil Police Tourist Police Station already has images of the suspect
Two Argentine tourists were shot at Barra da Tijuca beach in Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred when an armed man who arrived by motorcycle tried to rob a group of tourists, who is in town to watch the Recopa final between Botafogo and Racing on Thursday (27). During the attempted theft, there was a reaction, and the criminal fired, reaching two of the Argentines, who are fans of Racing. The injured were rescued by a Fire Department helicopter and remain hospitalized. The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police tourist police station is investigating the case and already has images of the suspect, with the expectation of arresting it soon.
This is not an isolated case of violence against Argentine tourists in Rio de Janeiro. Recently, a former Bariloche tourism secretary was killed after mistakenly, guided by GPS. He was shot by armed criminals and, despite being hospitalized, could not resist the injuries. These incidents highlight the concern with the safety of tourists in the city, especially in areas considered at risk. Urban violence in Rio de Janeiro remains a significant challenge for local authorities, seeking ways to protect visitors and residents.
Tijuca’s Bar-On Wednesday afternoon (26), two Argentine tourists were shot during an attempted robbery at Barra da Tijuca Beach, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The victims, Racing Club fans, were close to a kiosk on the edge of Barra.
