Anyone who is thinking that walking, climbing and running have nothing to do with the universe of carnivals, is because they never had to go through the seemingly endless paths of more traditional blocks and samba schools, thrilling into a float without spoiling the fantasy, nor to accelerate the step to prevent the school from losing points. And, yes, this week we will talk about very special legs: Carnivals across the country.
Starting with the most obvious samba catwalks, also the shorter (but no less demanding) routes in the revelry, we have in Sao Paulo the catwalk Adoniran Barbosa, better known as the Anhembi Sambadrome. It’s only 530 meters long, okay – but the friend has thought of going through this distance with a jumping sandal 15, skilling (don’t ask me to say, by the love) without losing the rhythm and eyeing the timer that threatens the school if the person is distracted and delaying the evolution that counts a maximum of 65 minutes to cross the full line? Best not.
The same goes for the world -known Darcy Ribeiro catwalk, aka Rio de Janeiro sambadrome, a wonder projected by architect Oscar Niemeyer who receives a minimum of 2,500 components per 700 meters and that, for the grandeur of his schools, gives a maximum of 80 minutes to show his plot from the early line. Is it suffocating you call it? For sure.
But, as not only sambadromos is carnival, and the adhesion of revelers is increasing (guys, I swore I wouldn’t write that word, but do what …) to street blocks, that of blocks, by the way, there have been nothing more, having become gigantic lines of people taking the streets of cities.
In this category, it is essential to start by citing the block that appears in the book Guinness of the Records, the Pernambuco Galo da Madrugada, which carries over 6.5 kilometers, from Forte das Five Pontas to Rua do Sol, in Recife, more than 2.5 million people. If everyone can dance is a mystery, the thing is more for happy on the start of Carnival Saturday morning, but those who follow the entire route will pay the walking quota of the day, go. Let’s follow.
In Salvador, it is the turn to go through the so -called Dodo Circuit, about 4.5 kilometers from Barra beach to Ondina. There, the fight is good to know who carries the most people, but it appears, in theory, that the largest block would be Chameleon, which joins 3,500 to 5,000 people every day – just three days in each carnival. And this is just the accounting of those who bought the famous abbot, the t -shirt that allows the citizen to bounce in the perimeter of a rope loaded throughout the course, which in the case of this block, the most expensive in the capital of Bahia, costs from $ 1,490 to $ 1,990 the day. In this amount, the organization announces that it offers complete safety structure within the boundaries of the rope, male and female bathrooms in the support car, bar, snack and medical care for those who pass the account in the birita. Those who are not in order to pay can follow the electric trio outside the rope, in the so -called popcorn, and be happy the same way, go there, without stewardship.
From there we left back to Rio de Janeiro, where the Black Ball Block, the oldest association of the city, founded in 1918, guarantees that it has already overcome the Pernambuco Rooster, having gathered more than 2.5 million (again …) revelers, but owed proof to Guinness, Patience. The crowd travels 1,800 meters from Rio Branco Avenue, in the city center, with no charges of Abadá and evoking the days of his birth, in the Lapa neighborhood, when it was not yet the Hypada Muvuca of today, but bohemian zone old -fashioned and trickster.
And we return to São Paulo, a city where by law the collection of abbot and delimitation of VIP areas is prohibited, and in which the crowd champion is the Academics of Baixo Augusta, who goes down the Consolação Street, only 2.4 kilometers, leaving the corner of Paulista Avenue and reaching the corner of Xavier de Toledo. This year, they say they will have at least 1 million followers focused on this route – and remember, no one pays anything to follow the trio. If someone can evolve at more than 1 kilometer per hour in this account that, it is better not to do, gets a ham sandwich at the Estadão bar, just there on the corner of dispersion.
So what will your route be in this carnival? You don’t even have to get your backpack. Let’s go there!
