O Atletico-MG is close to announcing the defender Vitor Hugoformer Bahia and Fiorentina, as a new contractor. The experienced 33 -year -old defender was a request from coach Cuca.
Despite advanced negotiations, the Rooster board has little time to close the hiring of Vitor Hugo. The model would be loan from Bahia.
The transfer window closes this Friday, February 28. Then Vitor can only wear the alvinegra shirt in April, when he opens the domestic window.

A native of Paraná, Vitor Hugo started in the base categories of Santo André. From the interior of São Paulo the defender left for Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil, and defended the colors of the Sport Club of Recife, then returned to the state and play for Ituano.
Between 2012 and 2014, Vitor Hugo played in Ceará, Ituano and settled in América-MG. In 2014, he stood out at the club of Belo Horizonte and was announced by Palmeiras, playing for just over two seasons, with 128 games, 12 goals and two assists. He was a starter in the achievements of the 2015 Brazil Cup and Brasileirão 2016.
The good ticket to the team from São Paulo yielded sale to Fiorentina, from Italy. At the time, the values revolved around 8 million euros (about 29.5 million reais at the time), according to the Italian press.
But Vitor Hugo made only two seasons in Italy and lost space. Then the defender played at Türkiye’s Trabzonspor and was highlighted, with goals and good performances. In 2023, Bahia repatrized him and he played 29 games, with a goal, until he was loaned to Panathinaikos of Greece and playing for only ten matches.
Earlier this year, the defender had a Quadriceps injury during the preseason and returned to act in late January.
Vitor Hugo works on the left side of the field and has as characteristics the defensive recovery, as well as quality in the air ball.
At Rooster, he arrives to compete with Junior Holder Alonso.
