Al-BBI is a non-profit association based in Tavira, which adds farmers, producers and preparers in biological production mode in the Algarve region. Dedicated to the promotion of agroecology and the protection of biodiversity, the Association maintains a protocol with the municipality of Tavira, through which the Mededap Tavira project develops: Agroecology in the Mediterranean context.
Currently in its final execution phase, the project has defined a set of seven free actions with the objective of strengthening the local food network, enabling biological and agroecological producers and starting the first steps for creating an Algarve bio-region.
The first edition of Medadap in Tavira will culminate with three days of technical hours in biological agriculture, where some results of the GrowLife project will be shared, namely a characterization of the Al-BBI producer network. Thus, there are several objectives of the program, including the monitoring of agroecological practices, promoting healthy and affordable eating, strengthening farmers’ subsistence and environmental protection.
