Carnival is coming and, with it, the expectation of many Brazilians to travel to enjoy the festivities. However, those who plan to move by plane during this period should prepare for a considerable impact on their pockets.
A survey conducted by Kayak revealed an average increase of 42% in the price of airline tickets in Brazil for the carnival of 2025, compared to the previous year.
Rio de Janeiro leads with an increase of 44%, followed by São Paulo with 33%. Salvador, one of the most traditional points of the Brazilian Carnival, has an even more expressive increase.
Amazing prices
The average values of the tickets for a trip impressed:
- Salvador (R $ 2,500);
- Recife (R$ 2.300);
- Fortaleza (R $ 2,300).
- Rio de Janeiro (R $ 1,800);
- São Paulo (R $ 1,200).
These prices represent increases ranging from 33% to 45% compared to the carnival of 2024.
Two main factors contribute to this scenario: the increase in the cost of aviation fuel, which is linked to the dollar, and the high demand typical of this festive period.
Carnival inflation
In addition to airline tickets, other consumption items during Carnival also suffered readjustments.
The Brazilian Institute of Economics of FGV points to an average increase of 4.2% in the main items consumed at this time. Highlight for beer and draft beer, with a 4% increase, and meals and sandwiches, which were 5% more expensive.
