Neymar may return to the national team after almost a year and a half away due to a serious knee injury

The (Brazilian Football Confederation) released on Friday (28) the list of 52 pre-convened players by the coach for the first FIFA date of 2025. The Brazilian team will face Colombia and Argentina on March 20 and 25, respectively, by the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The final relationship with the 23 chosen will be announced next Friday (7).

Among the pre-selected is Neymar, who can return to the national team after almost a year and a half away due to a serious knee injury suffered in October 2023, during a game against Uruguay. Since then, the Santos striker has been monitored by professionals from the national team’s coaching staff.

Brazilian football has 18 representatives on the list, including six Flamengo players: defenders Danilo and Léo Ortiz, sides Alex Sandro and Wesley, midfielder Gerson and striker Bruno Henrique. Sao Paulo appears with three names: Lucas Moura, Alisson and Oscar, which is once again considered to the national team after almost a decade. Corinthians has two athletes: goalkeeper Hugo Souza and striker Yuri Alberto, who can return to the national team after almost two years.

The prelist also includes goalkeeper Weverton and young striker Estêvão, both from Palmeiras; the sides Alex Telles (Botafogo) and Guilherme Arana (Atlético-MG); defender Fabrício Bruno (Cruzeiro); and striker Igor Jesus (Botafogo). Dorival Júnior and his technical team recently traveled to Europe to track games and training of possible summoned. In recent days, they have also visited Brazilian clubs to analyze active players in the country.

Currently, Brazil occupies the fifth place in the qualifiers, with 18 points, seven less than the Argentine leader. The confrontation against the Colombians will be held at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia at 9:45 pm on March 20.
