PT’s national president, Deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), said on Friday (28) that he will seek “joint construction” and will continue to “dialogue democratically with parties, rulers and political leaders.” The deputy was chosen by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) to assume the Secretariat of Institutional Relations (SRI).
“I always understood that the exercise of politics is the way to move forward in the development of the country and improve the lives of our people. It is with this sense that I will continue to dialogue democratically with the parties, rulers and political leaders, as I did in the positions I held in the Federal Senate, the House of Representatives, the Civil House, the Itaipu Board and, currently, in the PT presidency, ”he said at X (former Twitter).
The future minister also stated that it will seek to have joint conduct with allies of the Executive and the National Congress. “This is how I hope to correspond to the confidence of the president, in a joint construction with the allied parties, the National Congress and other institutions,” he said.
The inauguration in office is scheduled for March 10. The folder is responsible for the political articulation with the National Congress. SRI’s current minister, Alexandre Padilha, will leave the function to take over the Ministry of Health in place of Nísia Trindade.
In the published message, Gleisi highlighted the “immense responsibility” of the function and directed thanks to Lula and the PT. “I thank President Lula’s confidence and encouragement in this new challenge, in the certainty that we will do the best for Brazil,” he said.
Esplanade exchanges are part of Lula’s ministerial reform. The changes have been expected since last year, when Centrão parties began to charge more space in government in exchange for support in Congress.
Lula said on Thursday (28) that he expects to complete changes in government after the Carnival holiday. The president also said at the time that he had already made his choice to SRI, but had not yet talked to the defined person.
The meeting that formalized the change was held this morning in a conversation between Lula, Padilha and Gleisi in the Planalto Palace. In the early afternoon, the government issued an official note about the exchange.
This is the second time that Gleisi will have had a place of minister. In the government of Dilma Rousseff (PT), headed the Civil House of the Presidency between 2011 and 2014
