President of the Senate states that process would cause problems for all Brazilians; Never has a court magistrate have been deprived

The Senate President, (União Brasil-AP), said on Thursday (27.FEV.2025) that an impeachment process against an STF Minister (Supreme Court), in a divided country, would cause problems for all Brazilians.

According to the senator, taking a minister from office is not the solution. Said the country already has many problems and “It won’t create one more”. The statement took place in an interview with Ready TV!.

Alcohumbre stated that the Senate does not “It is STF correction organ” and said it was necessary to change the legislation dealing with the impeachment of court ministers.

“The Senate is not the STF correction organ. The Constitution determines a single procedure: impeachment of the Supreme Minister. This is wrong. We have to make a new legislation. This law is from 1950. We have to seek that each power can live within its attributions, respecting the other, without advancing the line of autonomy and the authority of each power ”said the senator.

To this day, no STF minister has been deprived of office. In addition to opening the process depends on the Senate, the revocation of a Supreme Court magistrate requires the vote of 54 of the 81 senators (2/3 of the house).
