Russia proposed to the United States to renew direct airline. The proposal was reportedly submitted to the American side by Russian diplomats during their joint Thursday interviews in Istanbul. This was announced on Friday by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, TASR reports according to AFP.
The United States, as well as European countries, stopped a direct air connection with Russia immediately after the neighboring Ukraine thought three years ago, AFP recalls.
“The American side has been designed to consider the possibility of restoring a direct aviation connection,” the Russian Ministry of Diplomacy said. At a meeting in Istanbul, they discussed the ways of solving “many inconveniences inherited from previous US administrations”.
Negotiations in Istanbul were factual and professional
The Russian resort states that the interviews in Istanbul were “factual and professional” and agreed on the steps to ensure smooth financing of the activities of the Russian and American Embassy. It was also discussed that the US would return six seized real estate to Russia. According to the Russian ministry, both parties also agreed to continue the dialogue.
US President Donald Trump has been trying to restore relations with Moscow since his January return to the White House. He recently phoned with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, agreed on the immediate start of the warning of the war in Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia three years ago. Both of them have repeatedly declared interest in a personal meeting.
Their telephone interview was followed on 18 February by negotiations of US and Russia representatives in Saudi Arabia, led by Foreign Ministers Marc Rubio and Sergei Lavrov, who, among other things, concerned possible normalization of mutual relations. The negotiations of diplomats in Istanbul were thus the second official US-Russian meeting in February.
