US sanctions against the Serbian oil company NIS are part of the Western conspiracy, according to the Deputy Prime Minister.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin, after meeting with the head of the Russian foreign intelligence service (SVR) Sergei Naryskin, accused Western secret services of trying to destabilize the situation in the country. They were supposed to commit through supporting anti -government protests. TASR took information from Reuters.
“Western intelligence services are attempting to uninsule the color revolution and destabilize the Republic of Serbia,” Vulin’s office said.
Tens of thousands of students in Serbia have been protesting daily since November last year, when 15 people were killed when the shelter at the railway station in Novi Sad was killed.
According to Reuters, demonstrations are a threat to President Aleksand Vučič, who has been in the country for more than ten years. Prime Minister Miloš Vučevič has already resigned for the protests and ministers of transport and trade Goran Vesič and Tomislav Momirovič.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stated in his statement that US sanctions against the Serbian oil company NIS, the majority owner of the Russian Gazprom, are part of the Western conspiracy. “The sanctions against NIS are part of the hybrid warfare in order to overthrow the President Vučič and the legally elected government,” he said without further details.
Vulin, whose Reuters described as a convinced pro -Russian politician, in the past led the Serbian counter -intelligence and is now the head of the coalition socialist movement. In 2023, the US imposed sanctions for cooperation with Russia in “harmful” activities and for links to a weapon trader and a drug network.
