Surprise in the prestigious ranking. Polish fruit in second place

The Virtual Culinary Guide Taste Atlas is known for publishing global rankings recommending restaurants and selecting the best and worst dishes or regional products. The website has numerous information about what and where to eat in different parts of the world.

At the end of February, Taste Atlas posted a ranking of the 100 best fruits in the world. As usual, the list was created on the basis of ratings issued by the users registered on the website. Find out which Polish fruit was on the list.

In the first place came the Greek peach of Rodakin Naoussas, and the third – the Greek Mandarin Mandarini Chiou. Among the Polish fruits, the highest in the ranking, because in second place, they came Kashubian strawberriesalso known as Kaszëbskô Malën. They are legally secured because they have a name registered in the European Union as a protected geographical designation. In this way, they can only be cultivated in the Kashubian Lake District area by producers with a special quality certificate.

Kashubian are dark red and slightly shiny. They remain a bit hard and firm, they have noticeable seeds. They are also characterized by a strong aroma. They are juicy and very sweetwhat stand out from other varieties of this fruit.

Kashubian strawberries are not the only Polish ones that were in the prestigious Taste Atlas ranking. Among the 100 best fruits in the world:

  • The 14th place was won by the Nadwiślanka Cherry – cultivated in the Mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie and Lublin provinces in Poland from the 20th century to direct consumption and processing goals (especially for the production of juices and desserts). Cherries are small, round and have a sweet and acidic taste. Inside there is a red flesh, dark stone, and outside – the skin is intensely dark red to burgundy.
  • 15th place went to Jabłkom Łąckie – Apples, grown in Poland since the 13th century, are characterized by a blush much more intense than other apple varieties. They have a firm consistency and an intense, tart and very sour taste.
  • Grójec apples won the 28th place – They are all grown and collected in the Masovian and Łódź voivodships in Poland, are characterized by higher acidity, have a beautiful ruddy skin.
