It is “crucial” for Ukraine to have the support of US President Donald Trump, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Saturday (1), a day after arguing with the US leader at a heated meeting at the White House Oval Hall.
“He wants to end the war, but no one wants peace more than us,” Zelensky said in a series of posts in X.
The president emphasized his gratitude for US support to Ukraine in three years since Russia invaded his country.
In the heated exchange of Friday (28), US Vice President Jd Vance questioned whether the Ukrainian leader had been grateful enough for US support.
In this Saturday’s posts, Zelensky pointed out: “We are very grateful to the United States for all the support. I am grateful to President Trump, Congress for his bipartisan support and the American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of large -scale invasion. ”
We are very grateful to the United States for all the support. I’m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion.

He emphasized that despite the chat, Ukraine and the US “remain strategic partners. But we need to be honest and straightforward with each other to really understand our shared goals. ”
The head of state also stressed that Ukraine is ready to sign the agreement on mineral resources – reason for Friday’s trip – but noted that he “is not enough.”
“We need more than just that. A ceasefire without safety guarantees is dangerous to Ukraine. We have been fighting for three years, and the Ukrainian people need to know that America is on our side, ”he warned.
“The American people helped save our people. Humans and human rights come first. We are really grateful. We just want strong relationships with America, and I really hope we have them, ”he added.
