Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) has canceled the marketing of 47 ointments to fix or model hair because they did not meet the criteria established for this category of cosmetics. According to the agency, companies did not fit the requirements of Resolution 814/2023.

The agency points out that only regularized products can be manufactured and sold and non -compliance with this standard is considered a sanitary infraction, subject to penalties that include a fine, cancellation of registration, interdiction of the establishment. Here Products (PDF – 238 KB).

According to Anvisa, most canceled products broke the article of the resolution that determined the adequacy of product processes that had been regularized by notification and the presentation of information such as:

  • Copy of Sanitary License;
  • labeling art containing mode of use and quantity of product to be applied;
  • DECLARATION/EVALUATION OF THE HOLDER COMPANY ATTENTING PRODUCT SAFETY.

Shortly after the publication of RDC 814/2023, Anvisa had already canceled the records of 1,266 ointments.

Anvisa has prepared a page with guidelines on ointments to fix or model hair. The use of irregular or inadequate products can cause unwanted effects such as temporary blindness (temporary loss of vision), strong eye burning, intense tearing, itching, redness, eye swelling and headache.
