Elderly 60 years or older are entitled to free tickets in conventional intermunicipal transport in São Paulo, according to State Law No. 15,179/2013, regulated by Decree No. 60,085/2014. The gratuity is valid during Carnival and any other date, guaranteed up to two free travel tickets, limited to 2 seats per vehicle. The benefit does not apply to travel in the metropolitan regions of São Paulo, Campinas, Baixada Santista, Vale do Paraíba and North Coast and Sorocaba.
To ensure the benefit, the elderly must present an official photo document and inform the CPF when reserving or removing the ticket. Reservations must be made from 24 hours to 5 days before the trip, counted from the scheduled time for the vehicle. On the day of boarding, at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
Tickets are personal and non -transferable, and any intermediation is prohibited in obtaining the benefit.
If the applicant cannot travel, it is necessary to cancel the reservation at least 3 hours in advance with the carrier company, allowing the seat to be made available to another beneficiary.
Semiurban transportation
For semiurban intercity transport, gratuity is guaranteed passengers 65 years or older, according to Complementary Law No. 666/1991, Decree No. 34,753/1992, Law No. 10,741/2003 and SIEV Resolution No. 113/1992. Boarding is allowed upon presentation of a document proving age.
