Thousands of acres burns fire in Japan
The flames are estimated to have spread to about 1,200 hectares (3,000 acres) in the Deanato Forest in the northern Ivate area since Wednesday the fire broke out, according to the fire and disaster management service.
“We are still looking at the size of the affected area but is the largest of the 1992 fire [στο Κουσίρο, στο Χοκάιντο]”, A spokesman for the service said.
That fire burned 1,030 hectares, the previous record. About 1,700 firefighters were mobilized from all over the country, the service said, according to the Guardian.
Aerial shots of the public broadcasting NHK broadcasting white smoke emerging and covering an entire mountain.
Was found a dead man from the fire
Local police found the corpse of a burned person, and more than 1,000 locals have been evacuated and more than 80 buildings had been damaged on Friday, according to Official Authorities.
The causes of the fire remain unknown, while firefighters continue to work to extinguish the fire.
Two other fires also burned on Saturday, one in Yamanassi and one elsewhere in the Higa.
Deanto had only 2.5mm (0.1 inches) of rain in February – well below the previous low record for February 4.4mm in 1967.
