The municipality of Alcoutim organizes, on March 13 and 14, the Rural World Days, an event dedicated to reflection on the challenges and opportunities of the agricultural and environmental sector. The initiative will take place at Espaço Guadiana, bringing together experts, entities and producers to discuss topics such as water management, rural depopulation and sustainable agro -environmental practices.
One of the central themes of the event will be the importance of water to the territory, focusing on its current state and its relevance to combat depopulation. Experts in the area will discuss innovative strategies to optimize the use of this essential resource and ensure its long -term sustainability.
Another prominent point will be the appreciation of agro -environmental practices, presenting innovative measures that promote the resilience of agricultural and forest ecosystems. The sharing of experiences between researchers, producers and entities in the sector will contribute to the identification of practical and effective solutions for the region.
The event will also address professional training and qualification in the agricultural area, exploring the educational offer available in the south of the country. Successful cases will be presented that demonstrate the positive impact of specialized training in the sustainable development of the sector.
Rural World Days represent a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge and foster cooperation between different agents in the territory, reinforcing the importance of rural areas in the region’s economy and identity.
The event is organized by the Alcoutim City Council, in partnership with the Municipality of Mértola, the Cumeada Association and several local and national entities, and aims to encourage a constructive discussion and the search for solutions to the challenges of the rural world.
