The avalanche was overwhelmed by the camp of construction workers on the Indian side.
The Indian army announced on Saturday that at least four people died in the Indian part of the Himalayas on Friday’s fall in the Indian part of the Himalayas, and five others are still missing. Informed AFP, writes TASR.
The avalanche sliced on Friday in a passing mountain pass by Mána, Uttákhand in the north of India. She also hit the camp for construction workers. There were 55 under the cave of snow. Already on Friday, rescuers under the snow managed to rescue 50 people, four of whom died after being transferred to a military hospital.
The search operation on Friday complicated heavy snowfall. On Saturday, the search for the missing was also renewed with the help of military helicopters. Many of the overwhelmed were migrating workers who worked on the project of expanding and asphalting the 50-kilometer section of the road from the village of Mana, the last village on the Indian side of the border with Tibet, to the mountain pass of the same name.
The Himalayas area is plagued by the consequences of global warming and relatively prone to avalanches, AP says. The agency recalls that in 2022, there were 27 beginners in the Indian state of Uttákhand.
