The Lebanese in the border village of Ajtarún on Friday withdrew more than 90 civilians and fighters of the militant Hezbollah movement who died during the war with Israel. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
Coffins arrived in the village in the south of Lebanon on four trucks, some of which were shrouded in the yellow flag of the movement and others to the Lebanese national flag. Women dressed in black gathered around the vehicles, holding photographs of Hezbollah’s fighters or the deceased leader of Hasan Nasrallah.
The coffins were then taken to the cemetery to 95 dug graves. There were 51 victims of the movement among the victims, most of which died during fighting, and 31 civilians, including five children and 16 women who lost their lives in Israeli attacks, writes AFP. In addition, there were also 13 people who died of natural death.
The Lebanese movement launched missile attacks on Israel in October 2023, expressing the support of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the war with Israel in the Gaza Strip. Almost a year -long conflict subsequently escalated last September, when Israel sent land units to Lebanon. Finally, the ceasefire entered into force in November. According to the Lebanese authorities, the costs of the country’s renovation will exceed $ 10 billion.
